WHO AM I: Leah Williams. House of Williams. First of her name. Giver of life, love, and light. Catalyst for change. Creator and holder of space. Healer of heads and hearts. Disruptor, connector, and builder. Believer of justice and restoration. Guardian of her communities. Defier of rules, limitations, and gravity. Spreader of wisdom and witchery.
By nature, I am a disruptor and a connector committed to breaking down barriers and building up communities. I identify as a healing facilitator.
HOW DO I DESIRE TO SHOW UP: Grounding in the principles of racial equity, restorative justice, and transformative justice I help individuals and organizations assess knowledge gaps, analyze frameworks, identify growth opportunities, and develop goals, objectives, and strategies for sustainable change. I work with individuals at the intersections of parents, professionals, leaders, and community members.
MY INTENTIONS & IMPACT: I am a collaborative leader at The Movement Movement and serve as the wellness counselor for a DC Public Charter School. As a part of my personal mission to lead through community engagement, I serve as the Washington, DC, facilitator for Black Girls Can Heal, Inc., a women-led organization that is dedicated to supporting women and girls of color on their journey to healing. I am the founding president of C.A.R.E Brookland(formerly The Village of Brookland) a community-led organization that aims to close the empathy gap and believes that each child has the worth, value, and inherent right to a high-quality education regardless of where they live. And I have held multiple board roles in organizations focused on redesigning educational spaces to see, hear, and affirm racialized students, their families, and their communities.
